Bullet Journaling

Last January I decided to start a journal where I could write my thoughts down. I got on Pinterest and created a board called “Journal.” I pinned beautiful drawings for each month and calendars to create. I had lists of places I want to travel, daily routines, activities I should do more.. I even had lists of lists saved. I had just gotten a fujifilm instax camera for Christmas and I was ready to try it out. I took photos of my cats and wrote a journal section dedicated to them:

I loved being able to write anything I wanted down without anyone ever reading it. But then it hit me: no one will ever read it… no one will realize how amazing my cats truly are! I also didn’t allow myself to be creative. I put restrictions on myself. If I wasn’t feeling creative, then I didn’t allow myself to write. I had to draw and write. That put unnecessary pressure and stress on myself, forcing me to stop journaling all together.

When I went on work travel, I found myself writing in my down time as I had no other distractions that I would typically have back home. I would go back to my room and write my thoughts down. Helped alleviate some stress of working 12+ hour days. This year, instead of journaling I decided to take up blogging. To become more vulnerable, to share with others my triumphs and tribulations.
